On the way to Baton Rouge, I set my GPS for Vance Avenue in Alexandria. Destination: Bolton High School, where my mother was a top grad in 1931 before entering LSU Baton Rouge. The school, which has a proud history, opened in 1926, the year before she enrolled. Majestic live oaks now grace the front lawn. I wonder if they were planted in the 1920s when the campus developed.
