The Marquette Reading Circle, a study club of Catholic women that I joined five years ago, has been celebrating its centennial. For our final meeting of the year, we had a special luncheon—a style show of sorts. Jan Pettit presented “Yesterday’s Lady”—what the original Marquette members might have been wearing 100 years ago. Antique and vintage clothing included hats, gloves, a Chantilly Lace gown, and a duster and veil for auto ride. Of particular interest to us “modern gals”: a Suffragette sash, hat pin, and jewelry, together with a vintage photo.
