Indigo Books has a great location for history-minded folks–in the historic Haymarket district next to the old Lincoln train station, now the tourist center. The streets here are closed off regularly for a farmers market.
The independent bookstore shares ground floor space in the old Beatrice Creamery Building, built in 1890. (Actually, it was originally called the Fitzgerald building!) The Creamery added the top two floors but moved its headquarters to Chicago in 1911 and became the conglomerate we know today as Beatrice Foods.
