Listen, the statues are talking …

233Fontana dell Facchino –“fountain of the porter”- on Via Lata, a side street of the Via del Corso, near Piazza Venezia in the center of Rome. I loved wandering these ancient, crooked streets and discovering little treasures. This is one of Rome’s “talking statues,” where satire and epigrams were posted. The original is called Pasquinal, hence the term “pasquinade,” a satire or lampoon, especially one posted in a public place.
