New England town common

town commonTown common in Boylston in central Massachusetts. Across the street is the handsome stone library, founded at turn of the last century. My friend tells me the church and bandstand are typical of all New England commons. This is staging ground for community events– holidays, feast days, and more–where the old-timers and “newbies” mingle and celebrate. Boylston also has a first-class Botanical Garden called Tower Hill, with a view of the lake/reservoir and Mount Wachusett, their nearest ski slope.
